What phrase do you use to start a reflection?

Following on from my "another way of saying..." thread I thought I'd ask how y'all start a reflection...

Mine (99% of the time) start with "During my time in...I met..."

Do you start it in any different way?

(insert generic name of your choice) was a 37 year old primip who attended delivery suite at 38+6 in early labour.....

Using Gibbs I usually started with a short description first xx

The Gibbs (1988) model of reflection shall be used to reflect upon ...... In accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Coduct (2004) psydenyms shall be used to preserve confidentiality.

    Description
    Name was ........

It is nearly 3 years since I wrote one and I still know the opening phrase by heart (plus it got me two references to start the ball rolling)

    I always use Driscolls!
    And I start with..
I am going to use Driscoll’s Model of Reflection (Driscoll 2000). In accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct (NMC 2008), confidentiality shall be maintained and pseudonyms will be used to protect the identity of the Local Health Board, Staff and of course, the clientele.

Re: What phrase do you use to start a reflection?

I usually use Gibbs for long reflections and Borton for shorter ones. Generally start as Iolaus starts... pretty much word for word actually!

I was wondering how to reference Gibbs cycle? Is there a particular book? Website etc where I can find an official reference? x

i swear by Gibbs. ihave usewd it for every reflection.

i usually start by saying abit about lifelong learning. To facilitate reflection is an essential aspect of midwifery.

then explain the Gibbs cycle. then say in line with NMC a pseudonym will bve used to maintain confidentiality of all involved.

Then i write an description ie ***** is a gravida 3 para 2 etc.
