    B.I.R.T.H (Bringing Interactive Response Training to Hospitals) 2 Maternity & Baby Lifeline present:

    Emergency Care in the Community: Essential Skills & Drills for Home Birth


    This course will provide a hands-on practical session that offers clear guidelines and builds confidence on important elements in the management of emergency skills that may be needed when women birth in the community. It will be relevant for those who attend planned or unplanned births in the community: Community Midwives, Independent Midwives, Paramedics, MCAs, & Practice Development, Midwives who will facilitate skill sharing with colleagues.

    The day will include:
    • Normal upright breech and complicated upright breech delivery
    • Neonatal resuscitation
    • Cord prolapse (to include case discussion)
    • Shoulder dystocia (also in water birth)
    • Maternal collapse
    • Post-Partum Haemorrhage
